Beautiful place, but has unfortunately become over populated. We had our wedding reception there 5 years ago, now it's hard to get a reservation for the terrace and baby carriages were up there. Not the right atmosphere for children.
This was my second stay at Eitch Borromini – Palazzo Pamphilj, and overall, I really enjoy this hotel. From the moment you arrive, the staff make you feel very welcome. As soon as we got out of the taxi, someone immediately came to help us with our luggage and take it to our room. The staff were friendly, professional, and welcoming throughout our stay. The location is absolutely outstanding and, in my opinion, one of the best things about this hotel. It is perfectly located for exploring Rome and being close to everything. I also really love the character of the property. The interior design is beautiful, elegant, and full of history, which gives you a very authentic Italian and Roman experience. This unique atmosphere is one of the reasons we chose to stay here again. Overall, I really like this hotel and would recommend it to others. Whenever we visit Rome, this is a hotel we are happy to return to. There are a few areas that I believe could be improved. First, the elevator is extremely small and sometimes requires a long wait. However, I completely understand that this is a historic building and there may be limitations on installing a larger or more modern elevator. The second issue was the condition of our room. We stayed in the same room category as during our previous visit, but this time the room felt a little more worn and in need of maintenance. In particular, small pieces of plaster or material from the ceiling were occasionally falling onto our bed. It was not a major amount, but I do think some renovation and maintenance would help preserve the quality and beauty of the rooms. The biggest area for improvement, in my opinion, is the breakfast. For a four-star hotel, I found the included breakfast extremely limited and below the standard I would expect. Although additional items can be ordered, they come at an extra charge. When I book a four-star hotel with breakfast included, especially based on my experiences at hotels throughout Europe and elsewhere, I expect a much more complete and varied breakfast selection. I am sharing these points as constructive feedback because we genuinely like this hotel and have now chosen to stay here twice. I hope these areas can be improved, because the property has so much character and potential, and we would happily continue staying here whenever we return to Rome.
We stayed the end of March for four night. We absolutely loved everything about the hotel, its location the excellent hotel service , the restaurant, and the rooftop bar restaurant which had beautiful views and great drinks. We will be returning and will stay here again. We had a suite which was beautiful!
I really don’t understand all of the negative reviews, this place has been absolutely amazing. We ended up here by surprise last minute when our flights to Sicily from Rome got canceled after the volcano erupted, and it has surpassed expectations across the board. I booked one of the basic suites online before we arrived, but we were thrilled to be upgraded to one of the premier suites on the fifth floor for our first night. When we asked if we could stay a second night when our flight to Sicily was delayed again, they could not keep us in that fancy suite, but they were able to get us into the one we originally booked at the same price. Not quite as over the top as the first one which was more of an apartment, but still a really nice room. The location here is amazing, breakfast is delightful, and the staff couldn’t be any more friendly or helpful. A really special place, we would definitely come back again.
My 2 friends and I went on a girl strip to Italy, which was planned by a travel agent. We had requested a LUXURY trip, and asked for an excellent and comfortable hotel in Rome. We wanted to be well taken care of, and were paying for this experience. The agent picked Eitch Borromini. When looking at the photos, we were pleasantly surprised. However, the reality did not match what we saw online. The one and possibly the only thing we appreciated was the location. The hotel was in Piazza Navona, and walkable to many of Rome’s fantastic attractions. We did not get to have the breakfast, but the boxed breakfast provided to us could have been a lot better. We were given crackers, jam, Nutella, and a packaged croissant. I’ve had the privilege of being at several high end hotels and asking for boxed breakfasts in various countries (including our phenomenal accommodation in Tuscany), and they were all far more nutritious, fresh, and enjoyable. However, I cannot speak to what breakfast at the hotel would have been like. Our biggest gripe was the room. The room was not very clean, it appeared dates, and unkempt. There was a lot of dirt and dust on the floor, and there was a bug problem. We killed some in the shower, and there were flies around the room as well. We were supposed to be in a luxury suite, and there was really nothing luxury regarding it. We didn’t even have any proper windows to look out of, and the iron didn’t work. Perhaps we were supremely unlucky with the room. While I understand Eitch Borromini is an old palace and has character and charm, the issues we encountered were not secondary to it being an old palace. Also, an odd thing, but in the room with the shower (the toilet/sink and shower were in different rooms), there was a locked glass door and a dark staircase that could be seen. It was quite disconcerting and as a trio of three women, we didn’t feel very comfortable. I know I would not want to stay in that room alone. Finally, the hospitality wasn’t great either. We requested some water in the evening, as they provide a complementary bottle, and were told to drink the ones in the mini fridge…which they would then charge us for. When we asked for help with luggage in the morning of our departure, they told us to bring it to the elevator first (which wasn’t that close to our room). For a hotel that claims it’s a 5-star luxury hotel, there was nothing 5-star or luxury about it, and we should not have paid the price it was for staying here. I will be coming back to Rome, and I would not be picking this hotel again.
